1. Who we are and agreeing to these Terms
Mosaico: Photo Puzzles ("Mosaico", "the App") is developed and run by a private individual and solo developer based in the EU, not a company ("we", "us" and "our" mean the developer of Mosaico). You can reach us by email at support@mosaicopuzzle.app; the other addresses are in section 22. The trader details that Google Play requires are shown on Mosaico's page in Google Play.
These Terms are a contract between you and us about your use of the App, its online features and our website (together "the Service"). By installing or using the App you agree to these Terms. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. Before you publish to Community for the first time, and again when these Terms change in an important way, the App asks you to accept them by tapping "I agree".
2. Who can use Mosaico
- You must be at least 13 years old to use the App.
- You must be at least 16 years old to publish to Community and to use Mosaico friends. The App asks for your birth year once and keeps only the answer to whether you are 16 or older.
- If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use the Service only with the agreement of a parent or guardian, who accepts these Terms for you and is responsible for your use, including purchases. Parents can control purchases with Google Play's parental controls.
- You may not use the Service if the law where you live forbids it, or if we closed your account before for a serious breach of these Terms.
3. The Service and your puzzles
- Private puzzles. Photos you turn into puzzles stay on your device unless you share, publish or back them up. We do not receive them. Puzzle cards you send through a messaging app travel through that app, not through our servers. A puzzle card you send to your Mosaico friends inside the App is stored on our servers for a short time, as the Privacy Policy explains.
- Your device and your backups. Your puzzles and progress are stored on your device and, if you sign in, partly on our servers. You are responsible for keeping your device and your own copies safe; the App offers a backup to your own Google Drive. We are not responsible for losing data that is stored only on your device, for example when the App is uninstalled, the device is reset or lost, or the backup in your Drive is deleted, except where we caused the loss by breaching these Terms (section 15).
- Online features (accounts, sync, leaderboards, leagues, seasons, Community, Mosaico friends) need an internet connection and may not be available in every country or at all times.
4. Your content: you are responsible for it
"Your Content" means everything you upload, publish, send or type in the Service: photos you publish to Community, puzzle titles, display names and nicknames, puzzle cards and greetings you send to friends, reports, appeals and messages to us.
4.1 You alone are responsible. You alone are responsible for Your Content, for having the rights to it, and for the consequences of uploading, publishing or sending it, including towards the people shown in it. We do not create, edit or endorse Your Content. We act only as a host that stores it and shows it to the players you choose.
4.2 Our checks are a safety measure, not an approval. The automatic photo and text checks, reports, human reviews and other moderation tools described in section 7 are a voluntary measure to keep the App safe. They are not a check of every item before it is published, not an approval of Your Content and not a promise that it is lawful or that it respects anyone's rights. They do not make us responsible for Your Content, and they do not create a duty for us to monitor what players upload. Under EU law (the Digital Services Act, Regulation (EU) 2022/2065, Articles 6 to 8), a host is not liable for content it stores for its users as long as it does not know that the content is illegal and acts quickly to remove or block it once it is told; a host has no general duty to monitor; and checking content on its own initiative does not take that protection away. This section does not limit our duties as a host under that law (section 7).
4.3 Your promises. Each time you upload, publish or send Your Content, you promise that:
- you took the photo yourself, or you have all the rights and permissions needed to use it in this way;
- every person who can be recognised in it has agreed to it being published or sent, and, for Community, no child can be recognised in it;
- it does not break any law or anyone's rights, including copyright, trademark, privacy, personality and image rights;
- it follows the Community Rules in section 6.
4.4 The licence you give us. You keep all rights you have in Your Content. So that we can run the Service, you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, process (for example resize, crop, compress, remove metadata and cut into puzzle pieces), check for safety, display and distribute Your Content, only within the Service and, for photos you publish to Community, in in-App features such as "Today's puzzle by Ana". We may let the companies that host and deliver the Service do this for us. The licence lasts as long as Your Content is published or, for cards, for as long as we keep it to deliver it. It ends when you unpublish it or delete your account, except: (a) copies we must keep by law, for a report to the authorities or to handle a dispute, an appeal or a safety case, for the periods in the Privacy Policy; and (b) puzzles that other players already saved on their own devices, which we cannot reach. We will not sell Your Content or use it in advertising outside the App without asking you first.
4.5 If someone makes a claim because of Your Content. If someone makes a claim against us because Your Content or your use of the Service broke these Terms or the law, you will compensate us for the resulting losses, damages and reasonable costs, including reasonable legal fees, to the extent that you are responsible for the breach. We will tell you about the claim, and you may help us respond to it. If you are a consumer, this applies only where you are at fault, and only as far as the law where you live allows.
5. Your account
- An account is never required to play. If you sign in (with Google or with your email address), keep your sign-in secure; you are responsible for what happens in your account unless you could not have prevented it.
- Your account is personal. Do not share, sell or transfer it, and do not use someone else's.
- Choose a display name that follows the Community Rules and does not pretend to be another person, a brand or Mosaico. We may reset a name that breaks them to a preset nickname.
6. Community Rules
These rules apply to everything you publish or send, including titles, display names and puzzle cards. You must not publish or send content that:
- shows nudity, sexual activity or sexually suggestive content;
- shows violence, gore, injury, self-harm, animal cruelty or weapons aimed at people;
- sexualises, endangers or shows identifiable children, or is child sexual abuse material (which we report to the authorities);
- promotes hate or discrimination, or shows hate symbols;
- shows illegal drugs, or promotes illegal activity;
- harasses, bullies, threatens or shames anyone, or shows someone who has not agreed;
- contains personal data such as phone numbers, addresses, ID documents or licence plates in focus;
- infringes copyright or other rights (for example photos copied from the internet, film stills, artwork you don't own);
- is spam, advertising, or misleading;
- tries to get around our safety checks.
7. How we moderate content
- Automatic checks. Photos you publish are checked automatically, on your device and on our servers, including against lists of known child abuse material; titles and display names are checked against word lists. Depending on the result, a photo is published, rejected, or held for a person to review. These checks are automated and can make mistakes in both directions.
- Reports. Anyone can report content in the App, or with the form on our website, also without using the App. A report that looks serious may hide content at once while we review it.
- Our decisions. We may refuse, hide or remove content, reset a display name, limit features, or suspend or close an account, if we reasonably believe that it breaks these Terms or the law, or to protect players, us or others. We decide fairly and in proportion to the problem, taking account of the rights and interests of everyone involved.
- Reasons. When we remove your content or restrict your account, we tell you the reason in the App: what we did, why, whether an automatic system was involved, and how to appeal; unless the law forbids it, or the content is child sexual abuse material or part of a criminal investigation.
- Strikes. Each removal is a strike. Three strikes within 90 days lock publishing for 30 days; a second lockout ends publishing permanently. Severe violations (for example child sexual abuse material or threats) lead to immediate closure of the account.
- Misuse of reports. If someone often publishes clearly illegal content, or often sends reports that are clearly unfounded, we may, after a warning, stop handling their content or reports for a reasonable time.
- Appeals. You can appeal a decision in the App or by email to support@mosaicopuzzle.app within 6 months. A person, not an automatic system, decides every appeal, and we tell you the result. If you are in the EU, you may also go to an out-of-court dispute settlement body certified under the Digital Services Act, or to court.
- Authorities. We report child sexual abuse material and credible threats to life or safety to the competent authorities, and we share information with authorities when the law requires it.
- We do not check all content, and automatic systems are not perfect: some content that breaks the rules may be seen before it is removed. If you see such content, please report it.
8. Notices of illegal content and copyright
- How to send a notice. If you believe content in the Service is illegal or infringes your rights, use Report in the App, the form on our website, or email support@mosaicopuzzle.app (also for copyright and child safety). Please include: where the content is (the puzzle, link or name), why you believe it is illegal or infringes your rights, your name and email address (not needed for child sexual abuse material), and a statement that you believe in good faith that the notice is accurate and complete.
- For copyright, also say which work you own or represent. We remove infringing content, tell the person who published it, and close the accounts of repeat infringers. If your content was removed after a copyright notice and you believe this was a mistake, you can appeal as in section 7.
- We confirm notices we receive, act on them without undue delay, and tell you what we decided. Sending notices you know are false may make you liable to the person concerned.
9. Contact point (EU Digital Services Act)
Our single point of contact for players, and for the authorities of the EU Member States, the European Commission and the European Board for Digital Services: support@mosaicopuzzle.app. Languages: English and Romanian. The contact point is answered by a person, not only by automated tools.
10. Acceptable use
You must not: cheat, use bots or scripts, fake times or results on leaderboards, leagues or seasons; create several accounts to collect rewards or to get around a ban or a limit; buy, sell or trade accounts, coins, gems or other items outside the App; copy, change, decompile or reverse engineer the App, except as far as the law expressly allows; get around or interfere with the App's security, ads, purchases, age checks or safety checks; overload or attack our servers; collect other players' data; use the Service to harass anyone, or for any illegal or commercial purpose we have not agreed to. If you do, we may reset scores and rankings, remove rewards or items gained that way, and suspend or close the account (section 7).
11. Coins, gems, Season Pass and other virtual items
- Coins, gems, frames, Season Pass rewards and other virtual items are a limited, personal, non-transferable and revocable licence to use them inside the App. They are not money or property, have no monetary value, cannot be exchanged for money or anything outside the App, and cannot be transferred, sold or traded, except where the law requires otherwise.
- We may change how virtual items work, what they cost in the App and how they are earned, for valid reasons such as game balance, security, new features or legal requirements. We will not take away items you paid for without a valid reason, except where they were gained by breaking these Terms, by fraud, or through a purchase that was refunded or charged back.
- Rewards from quests, seasons, leagues, Curator tiers, contests and milestones are free in-App items. We may change or end these programmes; rewards already given stay yours, unless they were gained by breaking these Terms.
12. Purchases and subscriptions
- Purchases and subscriptions (for example Mosaico Plus, Remove ads, gem packs and the Season Pass) are sold and paid for through Google Play. Google Play's terms say who sells them to you (in the EU, Google Commerce Limited) and apply to payment, billing, renewal, cancellation, withdrawal and refunds. Prices are shown in Google Play before you buy. We deliver what you bought in the App.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period until you cancel. You can cancel at any time in Google Play; the subscription stays active until the end of the period you paid for. A free trial turns into a paid subscription unless you cancel before it ends.
- Your right of withdrawal (EU and UK consumers) applies as set out in Google Play's terms. In short: for gems and other digital content delivered at once, you agree at checkout that delivery starts immediately and acknowledge that you then lose your 14-day right of withdrawal. For a subscription that starts at once, you can still withdraw within 14 days, but you may have to pay for the part you already used. To withdraw, use Google Play; you can also write to us at support@mosaicopuzzle.app and we will help.
- Refunds are handled by Google Play under its refund policies. We may also give a refund where the law requires it. If a purchase is refunded or charged back, the items it gave you may be removed.
- Lost purchases. If you sign in, your purchases can be restored on a new device. If you think a purchase did not arrive, write to support@mosaicopuzzle.app with the Google Play order number.
- Your statutory rights. If you are a consumer in the EU, you keep your legal rights if digital content or a digital service you paid for is faulty or not as described (Directive (EU) 2019/770), whatever these Terms say.
13. Ads and other companies' services
- The free App shows ads. Ad partners may use data as described in the Privacy Policy and according to the choices you make in the consent form. You can change your choices at any time in Settings > Privacy choices.
- The Service uses and links to services run by other companies, for example Google Play, Google sign-in, Google Drive, advertisers and the messaging apps you share cards through. Their own terms and privacy policies apply to them. We are not responsible for their services, content, products or ads, or for what they do with your data, except as the law requires.
14. Our content
The App, its design, curated photos, frames, sounds and software belong to us or our licensors and are protected by law. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the App on your devices for your own personal, non-commercial use, according to these Terms. Curated public-domain works stay public domain; our selection, edits and presentation of them are ours. If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them freely and without paying you.
15. Disclaimers
- The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". It is made by one person and offered for free with optional purchases. To the extent permitted by law, we do not promise that it will always be available, uninterrupted, error-free or secure, that it will work on every device, that data will never be lost, or that content from other players is accurate, lawful or safe. Content from other players is their responsibility, not ours (section 4).
- If you are a consumer in the EU or the UK, this section does not limit your statutory rights, including your rights when paid digital content or a digital service is not in conformity with the contract.
16. Limitation of liability
- No limit where the law forbids one. Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for intent or gross negligence, for fraud, under mandatory product liability law, or any other liability that the applicable law does not allow us to limit or exclude.
- If you are a consumer in the EU or the UK: we are liable under the law for damage we cause by breaching these Terms. For slight negligence, we are liable only if we breach an obligation that is essential to this contract, and only for damage that was typical and foreseeable when you accepted these Terms. We are not liable for damage that you could reasonably have avoided, for example by backing up your data.
- Everyone else, to the extent permitted by law: we are not liable for content published or sent by other players, for indirect or consequential loss, for loss of profit, revenue, goodwill or data, or for loss of photos or data stored only on your device. Our total liability for all claims together is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or EUR 50.
- We are not liable for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control, for example outages of Google's or other providers' services, network failures, attacks or natural events.
17. Suspending or ending your use
- You can stop using the Service at any time and delete your account in Settings > Delete account, or on our website (https://mosaicopuzzle.app/delete-account). This removes your published photos and account data as the Privacy Policy describes. Unused virtual items are lost when you delete your account; cancel a subscription in Google Play, because deleting the account does not cancel it.
- We can suspend or close an account, or limit features, as described in section 7, and we will tell you why. Unless there is an urgent reason (for example illegal content, fraud, a security risk or a serious or repeated breach), we will warn you first and give you the chance to explain.
- Sections 4.4 (only the exceptions it names), 4.5, 11, 14, 15, 16, 20 and 21 continue to apply after these Terms end.
18. Changes to the Service
We may change, add or remove features of the Service, for valid reasons such as improving the game, security, legal requirements, changes by our providers, or because a feature is no longer used or no longer viable for a solo developer. If a change significantly reduces something you paid for, we will tell you in advance and, where the law gives you that right, you may end the contract and receive a proportionate refund. We may stop the online features or the whole Service; if we do, we will tell you in the App at least 30 days before, whenever we can. The parts of the App that work without the internet will keep working on your device as long as Android and Google Play allow.
19. Changes to these Terms
We may change these Terms for valid reasons, such as new features, changes in the law or a court decision, safety, or to make them clearer. We will tell you about important changes in the App at least 30 days before they apply, unless a change is needed sooner by law or for safety. If you do not agree, you can stop using the Service and delete your account before the change applies; if you keep using it after the change applies, the new Terms apply. Earlier versions stay available on our website.
20. Law and courts
- These Terms are governed by the law of the EU Member State where we are established. If you are not a consumer, the courts of that Member State have jurisdiction.
- If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of the country where you live. You can bring a claim in the courts of the Member State where we are established or of the place where you live, and we can bring a claim against you only in the courts of the place where you live. This section does not take away any mandatory right you have.
- Before going to court, please write to us at support@mosaicopuzzle.app; most problems can be solved quickly. If we cannot solve a complaint, consumers can turn to an alternative dispute resolution body in the EU Member State where we are established, or a consumer body in their own country. The EU's online dispute resolution (ODR) platform closed in 2025, so we do not link to it.
21. Other legal terms
- Entire agreement. These Terms, the Privacy Policy and the rules shown in the App for a feature are the whole agreement between you and us about the Service.
- Severability. If a court finds part of these Terms invalid or unenforceable, the rest stays in force, and the invalid part is replaced by the valid rule that comes closest to it, as far as the law allows.
- No waiver. If we do not enforce a right at once, we have not given it up.
- Transfer. We may transfer this contract and the Service to a company or person that takes over the Service, for example a company set up to run Mosaico, if this does not reduce your rights under these Terms. We will tell you before it happens; if you do not agree, you can end the contract and delete your account. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms to anyone else.
- Language. If these Terms are translated, the English version applies if the versions differ, unless the law where you live says otherwise.
22. Contact
Mosaico, by email only: privacy@mosaicopuzzle.app for your personal data, and support@mosaicopuzzle.app for everything else (support, reports and appeals, copyright, child safety, and the Digital Services Act contact point). The trader details that Google Play requires are shown on Mosaico's page in Google Play.
